Mike Madden DVD/Video Productions

We will describe what goes into our production process for wedding videos and also review some of the various other methods being used to make professional wedding videos. Keep in mind that your video can be custom made according to your preferences and that there are not any "right" or "wrong" answers to the methods used. We want you to be informed so that you can make the right decision for your- self according to your particular preferences and situation.

Our wedding coverage includes behind the scenes activities---such as the bride getting ready before a mirror, groomsmen struggling to pin flowers on and many other things that build interest in the event about to take place.

During the ceremony, a combination of manned and unmanned cameras capture various view- points. We start setting up well in advance of the ceremony. In fact, we are usually at the ceremony site before the florist, photographer or any of the other services you are hiring. It takes time to set up cameras in the right locations, where they can get the necessary shots without being noticeable. It also takes time to set up specialized microphones at each sound source, such as the reader's podium, the church officiate, musicians, vows and any other sound source. All of the cameras and micro- phones must be checked and adjusted to insure they will perform properly. To plan the placement of everything, we attend the wedding rehearsal.

After the ceremony is coverage of leaving the church and any other significant activities, and the reception. The reception presents an opportunity to invite various guests, family members and the wedding party to make comments, tell any stories or give greetings and messages on video. It is fun, years later, to see and hear these special people as they were on this special day. Many spontaneous things happen such as toasts to the bride and groom, dancing, cutting the cake and throwing the garter and bouquet.

We also include a fast-moving "highlights" sequence, set to music, showing many of the high points of the entire day. We invite the bride and groom to tell their story; how they met, got engaged, etc. and smoothly blend this with the highlights. Finally, the video ends with still photos from the couple's honeymoon, leaving viewers with the wonderful feeling that there is much more to this than just the wedding day, there is a whole lifetime of experiences yet to happen as this relationship unfolds.

We have equipment which was specifically chosen for wedding videography, including low light cameras, rolling tripods, plenty of battery power, professional microphones and small, on- camera lights (which we use at the reception). Our videos include tasteful use of titles and effects (based on your preferences) combined with artistic editing done in our own studio. A quality wedding video not only documents the events of the day but provides a glimpse into this point of a love relationship between a man and a woman. In addition, it shows the people close to them, friends and family, who make up this special day. It will be a joy to watch now and in the years to come.

All copies are made directly from our studio masters. All copies are made directly from our digital editing system. We are currently using professional DVCAM, DV and 3-chip analog camera formats with digital editing. DVD is now available.
